Art Challenge of the Year

Over the past twelve months we have received some amazing pieces of jewellery from the nation’s top designers! Every issue it gets harder and harder to choose a winner, but now we hand it over to you…

The most voted for piece overall will be crowned the winner, and will receive $100 worth of findings from Page Jewellery! We will also profile the Art Challenger of the Year, showcase their work and invite them to create a project for you to make at home. This is a fantastic opportunity for an up-and-coming designer to get some nationwide publicity!

These are the Art Challenge topics and winners for this years’s issues of Beads etc

Issue 15: Fun in the Sun

Lucy Robinson, NSW
Beachcombing II

Comprised of coral, shells and fish beads, Lucy made this colourful necklace with spiral ropes as side foundation strips and a wavy peyote-stitched centrepiece.

Issue17: Purple Passion

Heather Lowes, NSW

Fit for a Queen

Using purple to denote royalty, Heather deliberately made the large flamework beads hollow to better reflect light and reduce the overall weight of the necklace.

Issue 18: Winter Wonderland

Kathryn Tot, NSW

Ice Queen Glamour

This necklace is made up of approximately 430 white freshwater pearls, with blue foiled glass beads cascading down the necklace like icicles, and took four weeks to complete.

Issue 19: Flower Power

Kylie Jenkins, Qld

Fields of gold

“The lampworked sunflowers and rich colours in this piece remind me of the fields of sunflowers that grow just outside of Emerald in Queensland.”

Issue 20: Alternative Christmas

Vera Dinic, QLD

Sugarplum Fairy

“My mum’s pink earrings were the inspiration for this necklace,” writes Vera. “The pink shell and crystals remind me of sugar and spice, and all the Christmas treats I had as a child.”
